Dodger
Blue
Story
by Randy Mantooth
On
August 4, 2001, I was invited to play some baseball at Dodger Stadium
with the “Hollywood All-Stars.”
After our “abbreviated” game, (just 4 innings) we were all
invited to stay and watch the Dodgers play a day game with the Chicago
Clubs.
I
played right field. That’s
correct…right field! The
same spot of earth in which Sammy Sosa and Gary Sheffield played on
later that day. Cool huh?
Now how ironic was it, when I discovered that this was the 51st
game of the year?
“How’s
this Dad?”
I told Dodger (my dog) to go get his Dodger gear on.
He ran off and came back wearing his favorite Dodger wristband.
I said “nah, you’ve got to have more than that Dodge.” When he came back I said, “Excellent! You can be my
bat-boy.” |

I always forget how tall David Hasselhoff is. |

|
| Fred Willard is one of my all time favorite people. He is one of the kindest men I know and he always makes me laugh. | |
| I met some new friends as well. Richard Schiff, from one of my favorite shows, “The West Wing.” A wonderful actor. | |
| Oh,
did I mention my honey was there too…to root me on? |
|

Some
old friends showed up at the game as well, |

| Remember
Chip (“Chipper”) Albers? He played “Curtis” with me on “Loving.” |
|
We had a houseguest that week from New York. Tommy (“The Terzmaster”) Terzi. Actually he was supposed to only stay for a few days. A couple of weeks later….we finally got rid of him. Seriously, Tommy is truly one of the funniest people I know. He and I have been the best of friends for over 15 years. He’s the best. He worked crew for “Loving” and “The City” for 13 years. He is now rubbing elbows with the likes of “Erica Kane” and the rest of the cast of ABC’s “All My Children.” |

Notice how he is holding my right arm down with his left hand. (He’s afraid I’m going to give “bunny-ears” over his head….who me!?) |

Can you find Keanu Reaves? Anthony Edwards?…Where’s Waldo? ![]() |
