Best of Luck
Dick Van Patten 8

Dick Van Patten is best known to the first generation of "Emergency!" fans as Tom Bradford, the beloved father of eight on the hit television series "Eight Is Enough" (1977-1981).  A show that was certainly one of our favorites growing up and, just like "Emergency!," brings back fond childhood memories for us all.  We hope Dick Van Patten enjoyed reminiscing about "Emergency!" just as much as we enjoy remembering "Eight is Enough."

Character Description:

Johnny and Roy save the lives of Carter and his wife Amy (Ruth Buzzi) after they are in a car accident. Carter and Amy are so “Grateful” to the paramedics that they start hanging around Station 51 trying to help out. In some very funny scenes, the Merkles become a major nuisance. The guys at the station have to figure out how to get rid of these two very “helpful” people without hurting their feelings.

Letter from Dick Van Patten
:

December 12, 2001

Hi.  Working on the T.V. show Emergency! was particularly nice because I was working with a real pro “Randy Mantooth”.  He was such a good actor and very good looking.  Off stage he was natural and unassuming.  He came up and talked to all the guest stars and the extras.

I don’t see him much anymore.  I would sure like to.
