| Jamie
Farr as Alan Austen Episode: "Boot" Air date: March 3, 1973 |

"To Emergency fans" "M*A*S*H," just like Emergency!, withstands the test of time and
is still just as popular as ever with fans of all ages. Jamie Farr (always one of our favorites!), played the role of
Corporal/Sergeant Maxwell Q. Klinger for eleven seasons (1972-1983).
What fun it was to watch the loveable character in the wacky women’s
clothing trying to prove he was crazy so he would be discharged from the
army. Jamie‘s "M*A*S*H" character was only scheduled to appear in one
episode, but he turned out to be so popular he joined the regular cast
and became one of the most memorable characters in television history.
Jamie continues to act and has
made numerous appearances on television and stage.
Since 1984 he has been the tournament host for the annual Jamie
Farr Kroger Classic in Toledo, Ohio. This golf tournament, associated
with the LPGA, has raised over 3.2 million dollars for children’s
charities. A special thanks to Jamie Farr
for participating in our "Emergency!" celebration!!
We look forward to watching "M*A*S*H" reruns for a long, long time! |

January
7, 2002 It has
been many years, but I do recall the fun I had doing “Emergency!”
It was a wonderful series with a terrific cast.
I was glad to be a part of it. - Jamie Farr

Character Description: Jamie Farr’s character “Alan Austen” arrives at Rampart as a
victim of a voodoo curse, while back at Station 51 the crew is worried
about “Boot” who refuses to eat. Jamie Farr’s appearance as “Alan Austen” was originally
written, and filmed, as part of the “Helpful” script.
His scenes were eventually used in “Boot”.
You’ll notice that Jamie is credited at the end of
“Helpful” even though he didn’t appear in the episode!
(Thanks to Rozane for helping us clear that up!) |
