Biography/Professional Highlights
After Emergency! ended in 1977 Randy went on to do two comedy series,
Operation
Petticoat and Detective School. He made several guest-starring
appearances in The
Love Boat, Vegas, Charlie’s Angels, The Fall Guy,
Dallas, and
Murder She Wrote.
His mini-series roles include Testimony of Two Men and The Seekers, based on the
novel by John Jakes chronicling the Kent Family saga.
Marrying in 1978, Randy settled down on his 13 ˝ acre ranch in Agoura, CA, located
35 miles outside of Los Angeles. The ranch was home to numerous exotic animals,
deer, European sheep, horses and dogs. On October 15, 1978, the devastating
“Malibu Fire” destroyed 150 homes and numerous acres of land. The ranch, located
8 miles from the source of the fire, was one of the first homes to be destroyed,
along with all of Randy’s personal possessions and animals. In the same week his
comedy series Operation Petticoat was canceled. After appearing in a few more
episodic and Movies of the Week he headed East to New York to become a regular
on the ABC daytime soap Loving.
Randy’s initial performance as Clay Alden/Alex
Masters (bad guy with a heart) earned him the Soap Opera Digest MVP Award. He was
also nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award as Outstanding Supporting Actor. A
decision to take a break in his role on Loving in 1993 prompted Randy to move
back to California where he played Dr. Richard Halifax (bad guy/that became
nicer) on General Hospital and guest appeared on shows such as LA Law, China
Beach, MacGyver and Baywatch. During his break from Loving, Randy also
appeared in the plays "Footprints in Blood" and "Back to the Blankets".
Returning to New York in 1995 to continue with his role as Alex Masters
(good guy with an edge) not only allowed him to enjoy the beauty of New York
City and its treasures, but also allowed him to pursue his interest on stage,
appearing in off-Broadway plays: Wink Dah, The Independence of Eddie Rose, The
Paper Crown, and "The Inuit", a comedy written by playwright Bill Buzzone,
whose credits include "Half Moon Over Miami". In 1995 Randy had an opportunity
to direct two readings of “Evil Little Thoughts” with former Loving cast members
Dennis Parlatto, Christine Tudor, and Lisa Peluso.
The 1995 season brought change to the ABC daytime soap Loving. The show was
revamped and re-named The City with a few of the former Loving cast members in
the new show. The City ended its run in 1997 and Randy returned to Los Angeles
and guest starred in various televisions shows such as J.A.G, Diagnosis Murder,
Walker Texas Ranger, Promised Land, ER and films Enemy Action, and most recently
Captured (renamed Agent Red in the States) with Dolph Lundgren.
Currently Randy serves as a board member of Project 51. He has several
projects in various stages of development and is co-owner of a bar in New York.
The project that is closest to his heart is USAR-1, a new series that is being
developed and presented to the networks with co-creator Hayma Washington.
In addition to his busy acting and screenwriting career, Randy is a frequent
keynote speaker at Fire and EMS events across the country. He serves as
Honorary Chairman of the Board for the nonprofit County of Los Angeles Fire
Museum Association, actively supporting the museum's James O. Page Memorial
Building Fund and their effort to acquire a permanent facility.
