HOW THEY MET: The first time the couple met was in January of 2000. The two were introduced through a mutual friend, Ron Rinaldi while at a party at his house. Kristen was working late, and had no intentions to go out that night. A friend encouraged her to get herself together and GO! If you ask Kristen what their first meeting was like, she'd say, 'It was like a first meeting back in High School. I noticed him as soon as I entered the patio. He was smiling and laughing with friends. When the crowd thinned out, he came closer and said, "'Hello, my name is Randy.' It was a bit awkward, we were both very nervous and we were acting like we had never met anyone new before." Throughout the evening, the two didn't leave each other's sides. When the night came to a close, they exchanged numbers. Kristen said thanks to Ron, and as he hugged her he said, "Something magical happened here tonight..." Kristen said, "I know." She then drove home and began to cry, telling her friend, "Oh, my God, I just met my husband." And here we are.
Their engagement was announced on February 18, 2002. HOW THEY GOT ENGAGED: It was the week of Valentine's Day and Kristen had been working in New York at the time. Randy had been busy cooking up a plan to take her on a rendezvous to Santa Barbara the Saturday she returned. Well, after all that hard work, Kristen had to extend her stay in New York. So, Randy had to move quickly and arrange for Plan B. The two, together with their dog Dodger, left on Tuesday and drove to the Double Tree, on Santa Barbara's beach front. Randy made arrangements to take her to her favorite seafood spot that night for dinner. Well, moments before the two were heading out the door, they learned the restaurant was closed for renovations. Again, ... Plan B. Chads. This restaurant is located in an old Victorian home. Very romantic. The evening started out with Kristen saying, "Let's not have the same old boring wine, let's have Martini's." After her first one, she mumbled to Randy,...."you can ask me anything you want tonight, these Martini's are great." So, after she finished her meal and drank her second Martini, he presented her with a gift. "A gift?" said Kristen. "For Valentine's Day," he said. Kristen opened the box and in it, was a beautiful framed photograph of Randy. Now this was no ordinary photo - here Randy was pictured holding a hand-made sign with the words: 'Will You Marry Me?' She requested him to 'take a knee' and said, YES!
